Refining Finalist Designs
Mar 31st — Jan 2nd, 2026
Working with Model Governance and Building Instructions teams, and making any final necessary adjustments before locking the designs for pre-production.
Crowdfunding
February 2026

BrickLink members may pre-order their favorite sets, with a limit of 2 of each set per household. All sets that receive over 3,000 pre-orders will be produced. Up to 30,000 of each set will be manufactured during a limited, one-time production run.

Production and Shipping
July 2026
We produce the sets in the factory. Orders will be ready to ship approximately 6 months after pre-ordering. Actual dates and shipping times may vary.

Fortuna is a fast sailing frigate designed as a Privateer – a government-commissioned vessel tasked with hunting pirate ships or, deceptively, becoming one. As a true frigate, Fortuna is equipped with 20 cannons and 2 swivel guns.

This set introduces the unpredictable Privateers to the LEGO Pirates theme, capable of aligning with any faction or pursuing their own adventures. Fortuna includes 12 Minifigures, a striking figurehead, and a small cat to protect supplies from rats.

Play Features:

- Run out the Cannons:  Slide cannons in and out, open and close gunports for realistic naval battles.
- Working Capstan:  Operate both anchors via a selector gearbox. The removable Capstan can be turned with Minifigures on it.

Accessible Interior:  Remove the top deck in sections for full access, allowing Minifigures to stand and move below deck.

Plentiful details: Prepare food for the crew in the galley, read maps in the captain's cabin or access the storage compartment!
- Authentic Masts:  Accurate, three-piece masts complete with standing rigging - and Minifigures can climb them!
Realistic Hull Shape: Smoothly shaped hull using hinges and horizontal curves using half steps.
- Structural Integrity:  Built on a technic frame, Fortuna has an exceptionally strong hull and is easy to transport.

Dimensions:
 - Length: 81 cm / 31.9 in
 - Width: 29 cm / 11.5 in
 - Height: 62 cm / 24.4 in

Fortuna’s efficient design makes the most of its 4,000 pieces, ensuring an enjoyable building experience with plenty of customisation options. Although the design is ambitious, I have paid close attention to making it as buildable as possible.

Wow. By far the best pirate ship era lego ship I have ever seen! That ship throwing and catching at the start what a fantastic demonstration of build design quality. Curses that I will have to save money and be awake at 3am or whatever ungodly hour it is in Australia that this will go on sale

@Brickperfection Thanks for taking the time. Just had a look at your series 5 submission, the name and those new flags look really neat. I did notice that in series 5 it was named both Minerva and Fortuna, I guess the Minerva name was from an earlier design. Again, congratulations, and really nice design! @NeilyAre This isn't a democracy and bricklink actually makes it quite clear that the amount of votes is just one factor in their decision making, so no, publishing vote totals doesn't accomplish anything.

Dude I'm so happy this design has finally been chosen, been supporting it over the past, because I'm a huge pirate theme lover. Finally a new shop for the "good guys" to go against the pirates. It packs incredible detail in a small space. Gotta love these brick build cannons! Time to hunt those pirates down!

Just a thought exercise: With skeleton arms for ratlines, that would make these skeleton arms the most common element with ca. 100 being included. Clipping in 100 skeleton arms does not appear to me like a fun building experience! The Endurance uses only 50, and people are already complaining about that. The Enthusiast can always add skeleton arms (the shrouds can slide to make them fit), but I'm sure most people don't want them. So it's not just a piece count issue, it's mostly a building experience issue.

@geobrick ratlines would only be possible with skeleton arms which are both a pain to assemble and would require too many additional pieces, so no. I can't reveal anything about the crew or show any updates to the model unfortunately.

@Brickperfection: So the shrouds will have climable cable. Does that mean there will be ratlines (horizontal lines) as well? And since crowdfunding will find place in 2026 (after retirement date of the Icons castle&village sets), and production there after, does that mean the crew will consist of other minifigs then depicted on the photo's?

@PirateHugh I had to keep the piece count down for my submission, the final version will have all shrouds made from the climbable cable (this adds ca. 40 pieces).

So they finally at last stopped blocking you, congratulations. I think it is time for Bricklink to open up the voting numbers just so we know there is nothing shady going on. Surely making the numbers public would simply confirm that the designs with the most votes are winning. Unless you are keeping the voting totals secret because what wins and what was voted for ARE NOT THE SAME THING, surely not? Obviously nothing dodgy is going on...but I think we really need to see the votes, just to make sure.

First of all: OMG Finally it made it. Absolutely amazing. As per the feedback request: - i know its likely not really historically accurate, but, acceptable for a display midel for sure, it would be nice to have the name on the stern. Having flag would be nice. Looking forward to building this and putting it up for display.

Super excited this is finally getting made. It is a truly magnificent design and I can’t wait to get mine (fingers crossed)! However, @BrickPerfection has said he is still refining it and has asked for comments, so I have one very minor suggestion. While I can see very little to criticise overall and am very aware of the enormous amount of work already put into this design, I am a bit puzzled by the rigging, with some shroud lines having studs and others not. There may be a reason for this, but for me, they would look more like “real” shrouds if all the lines had studs, creating a visual impression of horizontal ropes between the vertical lines. Just a thought!

Once again, I am incredibly grateful 🙏 to each and every one of You that has voted for, commented or otherwise supported Fortuna over the past series and especially in Series 7! 🥰 This really is a dream come true for me - I have been building historically inspired sailing ships in Lego since 2009! Fortuna is the 7th frigate that I have built over the years; and also my very best! I designed Fortuna from the start with a great build experience in mind, and I have rebuilt virtually every sub-assembly several times for the best fit, part usage, stability and build flow. Right now, I am already hard at work at optimising her further still - this time in collaboration with the BDP Design Team! 😃

With regard to sails: Fortuna sits at the intersection of a model ship for display and a play model. The furled up sails are completely appropriate for a model ship, while her being a waterline model in-scale for Minifigures means that she can be pitted against any Pirate ship in your collection!
