The mountain house of forester Tom was built by his grandfather on a
rocky exaltation near the forest.
Stairs carved out in the rock lead to it, followed by a path made
of flat stones.
This path is crossed by a mountain stream rich
in fish. It flows from the spring next to it to flow a bit further
in a refreshing cascade on the stones.
In the clearing in front
of the house you can relax in the shade of a tree where resides the
Evelyn squirrel named by Tom's wife, Eve.
There is a terrace in
front of the house, which is reached by a few steps. From there you
can enter the ground floor with an old-fashioned
fireplace.
Next to the fireplace there is a chest of drawers, a
shelf with books and an armchair where Eva likes to sit.
On the
opposite side, a guitar is hung on the wall, and below it is a box
serving as a table with two chairs.
From the ground floor, you
can either climb the stairs to the upper floor or descend a ladder
to the basement.
In the basement Tom has set up his workshop.
There is a workbench, and tools such as an axe and a saw are hung on
the walls.
Drews, boards, sticks and stumps are arranged
around. On the other side there are chests, boxes, barrels,
containers and the like, for example with grains for birds and
animals, hay for deer for winter and fish caught in the
stream.
When you return to the ground floor and head upstairs,
you will reach the attic. There is a fireplace with an armchair,
just like downstairs, but there is also a bed.
On the opposite
side, under the window, stands an old desk with maps, a compass and
a magnifying glass, as Tom is interested in adventures and
expeditions.
Next to the desk, there is a storage area for
firewood.
On the roof with green tiles you can see a bay window,
and a stone chimney protrudes on the other side.
The house is
finished in an old style, with candles standing here and there, as the
forester and his wife maintain an old-fashioned atmosphere.
Eve,
however, found that she needed good light for reading, hence the lamp
hanging from the bookshelf.
They live peacefully, away from civilization, but sometimes
unexpected lost travelers reach them, as they did today.
Harry
and his son Billy, with large backpacks, after a few hours of hiking,
came across the mountain house.
Fortunately, Tom and Eve are
hospitable, so the tourists spent the night with them and only the
next day set off on their journey.
Tom is a forester from generation to generation and
conscientiously fulfills his duties, and in his free time he tinkers
in the basement or studies maps with a goal known only to
himself.
Eve, on the other hand, likes to read books and sit on
the terrace, or play with Evelyn the squirrel.
Their house is not
very big but certainly cozy and they live well in it.
