The model is 41,6 cm tall and 35,6 cm long, when it sits on the stand.
It consists of 720 bricks, which makes it affordable despite the size.

This model is not only for a certain group of fans, but for everyone. I don't play saxophone (or any other instrument), but due to that a Saxophone is a well known instrument and it's classy looks, then even I find this model compelling. The model goes very well with some of the other instruments that LEGO themselves has released over the years, like the Fender and Grand Piano.

The idea to the model came from a friend who wanted me to make it for a gift. As I was designing the model, I quickly fell in love with it, due to both the general beautiful design of a normal saxophone and the many different small elements and techniques I had to use to create it out of LEGO bricks. I designed the model just over 3 years ago, but since then it has undergone a lot of adjustments to increase stability, adhere to the available bricks in the BDP and make it easier til build.

The model might look rather unstable, as if it just someday randomly tips over. I can however say, that I have had it on my shelf for 3 years without that ever happening (apart from when my friends knock it over).

A flaw in this design is the limited number of bricks available in the BDP, which limited the designs for the many details along the right side of the saxophone. Due to this, some of the details had to be made with pearl gold bricks instead of yellow. It could have been nice to make the saxophone all gold, but that would limit the designs even further.
