


















This model celebrates two of my favorite winter activities - ice skating and visiting a sugar shack!
It also highlights my love of movement, with clever mechanics
hidden in the base that bring the model to life.
The skater occasionally performs a pirouette as they glide
around the pond, while the flames of the fire gently rotate, enhancing
the atmosphere. The movement is controlled by a hand crank on the side
of the model, which you can see demonstrated in the video below.
For those who may not be familiar, sugar shacks are small cabins where sap is boiled down into maple syrup. They’re also known for making a delicious treat by pouring hot syrup onto snow, where it hardens into candy. You can spot this tasty treat displayed on the counter in the shack at the back of the scene.
The model features several charming details, such as a bird nesting in the tree, a mischievous squirrel that can also skate (as shown in the video), and winter scenes in relief on the front of the base.
