The Story:
Ye Ol' Red Barn has stood as a sanctuary for both man and animal for generations. Like a steadfast friend, it offers unwavering reliability. Its nicks and dents, cracks and creaks, speak not only of its age but of its enduring strength—holding firm against howling winds or the fury of a wild stallion's rebellion.

On the ground floor, a well-worn woodworking bench and an array of tools await the skilled craftsman, ready to tackle any recent wear and tear. Mounds of hay are stacked generously, providing sustenance for the barn’s animal residents. In one corner, a sturdy horse stall shelters a magnificent stallion, eager for its next adventure.

Above, in the barn’s loft, a resourceful farmhand has carved out a makeshift living space. Clearly an admirer of the legendary Baco Wilke, this fellow seems less concerned with tidiness, but perhaps his tireless work around the farm earns him some leeway—or maybe it’s simply because no one else dares to venture up there.

Ye Ol' Red Barn endures, portraying a symbol of shelter and utility. Its creaking doors will continue to welcome those seeking refuge, standing strong for many decades to come.

A masterpiece! I'm not usually into barn builds (unless it's a medieval barn), but this is just chef's kiss perfection. I can't stand the blatant cheating going on with the other barn set. Even though I participate in the bricklink designer program pretty much just for medieval stuff, I would buy this if it is picked, it is just such an incredible and extremely attractive design.

I've always loved barns. This is the best Lego expression of the Barn concept I've seen.

Neat model, love the Wild Western aesthetic of the build. I don't understand how Applewood Acres has more traction as this is a superior build. Best of luck to you :)

Super imaginative. I'd buy one even though I don't like farming.

I basically hate barns but I still want to buy this, wow. That's how absolutely perfect & adorable this build is. Hats off to you. Just realized at 3,000 pieces I probably wouldn't actually buy it, but dang, if that isn't the cutest Lego building I've seen. Hope people are giving this the respect it deserves!

Very well-designed barn! I especially like the shape of the roof! Clever use of wedge pieces and hinges there! Overall, the part count is slightly high; at <2800 pieces this would be a favourite for me!

It is interesting to me that there are three different barn submissions this round. Lego really should make at least one new farm line for City to fill the void. This is very well detailed! A little too detailed/large for my city (and wallet, haha!), but I wanted to commend the excellent design work anyways! I voted "like it" for this submission!

Very nice. Lego needs more farm and barns. However, the parts count is way too high. For the size of the building, an official Lego set would be maybe 1000 pieces maximum. Try to make it more efficient, removing some detail, to lower the parts count and keep the price down.

Thanks for all the kind words and support. And regarding the barn-that-shall-not-be-mentioned; I was genuinely perplexed for awhile. I couldn't help but wonder what on earth I was missing and how I had missed the mark so much with my design. I'm grateful the community cares about maintaining the integrity of the BDP program.

@brickhucker: This and your Dustmark Keep submission are both absolutely phenomenal! Your work reminds me of Mike Psiaki (designer of the Lion Knight's Castle among many other great sets) in that the builds are both super-clean looking yet highly detailed. So keep up the good work. Even if you don't win this round, we'll be looking forward to future submissions!

@Arselus: Ha, the irony of the shenanigans of the other barn submission is that it may help drive attention to this submission (which is very well-deserved).

This set looks great. I love the look you achieved with the vertical paneling and the large barn doors came out great. I also love the assortment of animals. Good job

Thanks for the comments and feedback. To answer a couple questions/points of feedback; while doing research on barns, I noticed they can get very large - often dwarfing other buildings around them, so I went more in that direction. I did have a smaller version early on in the design process though. In scale, it's more akin to the Medieval Blacksmith than the Lion Knight's Castle and would fit better into a city setup with the modular buildings. I always wanted this to be easily convertible to fit in with a western theme too, so I agree with that comment whole-heartedly.

This is animals done well (you have variety and enough of one animal to make it look like a realistic - though pauperish - barn). Voted - not sure if there is a limit on animals, but this is a good way to approach it.

I like the idea... But the scale feels off to me. It's only a two inches shorter than Lion Knight's Castle, so I don't know how well it'd match the other sets I have in my collection...
