Background:

Two royal tax collectors make their return to the castle, their carriage laden with gold and silver from villages around the countryside.  Pompous and carefree, the tax collectors are reveling with one another over how “efficient” they are in carrying out their duties.  Through the trees, a bandit scout is alerted to the tax collectors presence.  Where one bandit is, surely more will be close at hand.  Meanwhile, the castle has dispatched a carriage of troops to escort the tax collectors and the treasures they carry.  Lightly-armed, this carriage is ill-equipped to handle any significant threat.

Will the royal escort carriage make it to the tax collectors in time, or will the tax collectors joy turn to sorrow as the bandits claim another spoil…

Description:

Hello Lego Castle and Medieval fans.  I hope you enjoy Carriage Crossroads.  The model was built with the hope that it can integrate into Castle / Medieval collections big and small.  The weapons carriage is detailed for a particular faction here, but can be adapted to a faction of your choice with some different colored tile accents.

The tax collectors carriage is dark brown with tan accents while the weapons carriage is reddish brown.  The back doors on both carriages swing open.  The tops of the carriages and one side panel can be removed to access the interior and place minifigures.  From the base of the wheels to the tops of the carriages is around 11 bricks (not counting the flags and tops of some ornamentation elements).  The carriage component is around 22 bricks long and from the horse to the back of the carriage is around 36 bricks long.  The tree design follows the classic black color scheme and the branch and limb elements are mostly attached with bar and clip elements that can be rearranged if desired.

Main features :

  • Two carriages with back doors that open, along with tops and one side panel that can be removed.
  • 2 sticker elements to add text to the 1x4 tiles on the sign post.
  • 5 minifigures.
  • 2 horses and 1 squirrel.

Love how you've built something that expands the story line of the Lion Knights Castle and the Medieval Town Square. I think the piece count is too high for what it is. I'm always comparing sets like this to Speed Champions or the random 6 stud wide vehicles that Lego releases and the cost of those sets. You've effectively got two 6 stud wide vehicles and a tree build here. At the Lego store, that would be around 600 pieces and cost me about 50 USD, tops. A piece count of 1523 means that this would likely be priced around 140 USD. That's too much. Find a way to build these more efficiently, and I'd buy them immediately!

Like the idea, but aren't the carriges too big and heavy for just one horse each? :-) And maybe I would add some trees.

Like the two carriage aspect. Could go with either my Lego or previous BDP sets, but thinking I might swap the Lion Knight colors for my Raven Knights!

I really like this design and it would go great with my castle collection. The piece count is not too high, so the price should be reasonable. Two carriages is nice too.

You've reached the end of the comments.
