Old Water Tower
This Moc is a replica of a real existing building from my home town
Arad, Romania. The actual building was built in the year 1895 by an
English firm Shone and Ault along with all the water pipe works
executed in the city. The towers reservoir can hold up to 300 square
meters of water, and it was used to supply the old city with water and
to extinguish fires. At that moment it was the tallest building in the
city. It was used for water supply purposes until 1956. From the year
of 1990 the tower entered into private property and holds an unique
museum, with 5 floors to explore and on the last floor you can enter
the water reservoir itself.
I was inspired by this building and when I started my LEGO designing
journey in studio this was the first building I have recreated. Since
than i had modified this design countless times and i have built it in
real life too. The construction itself is 16x16 studs but it rests on
a platform of 32x32 to give way for the surrounding areas. It is the
easiest if you build from the bottom up and with each level continue
building onto the previous one. The roof is very unique and it was the
hardest to recreate from bricks. The final construction reaches almost
60 cm and represents the building at the scale of 1:50.
This construction can be an excellent addition to any medieval town
but can also be a great piece in any bricktown.
Why not be the first?
