Have you ever wondered how heavy loads of cargo or even entire horses or cows were loaded onto ships before the advent of machinery?

Treadwheel cranes! Essentially giant hamster wheels for humans, enabled lifting loads of between 500kg up to 2tons. Cranes located in harbours typically had a double-treadwheel to allow for greater loads and speed while loading.

These giant machines were typically roofed over to protect them and they could last several centuries! Some medieval cranes wee still in operation in the 17th century; 400 years after being originally built.

The Treadwheel crane features an authentic, realistic shape and 2 moving treadwheels that each fit 1-2 Minifigures. With a string, even heavy loads can be lifted. Unless the medieval equivalent, this one features a clutch brake to secure the cargo!

Naturally the crane needs a ship to load the cargo (in this case horses for the knights) onto: An authentic medieval cog, featuring a brick-build hull and a brick-built sail! The Cog can manoeuvre into port using oars (a single square is not good for manoeuvring) and strike its sail for loading of cargo.

Finally, the harbour quay is built from 8x16 and 8x8 modules - the crane is 16 x 16 - that can be freely reconfigured in a number of combinations!

Comes with 11 Minifigures and no stickers
