This is a model of a 3ft arrow Gauge 2-8-2 "Mikado" type steam locomotive, similar to those built for the Rio Grande. This particular example, finished in the striking dark blue livery of the fictional P&B railway company, would have been built around 1900. The locomotive is modeled as it would have appeared in some of its later years at the railroad, having had a few upgrades over the years.
About the model:
This is very a large
model, built in roughly 1:28th scale. This means that the standard
L-Gauge track width work well for the 3ft narrow gauge tracks that
this locomotive would have run on. The locomotive is not directly
based on any particular real-life engine, but the model takes most
of its inspiration from the varius K class locomotives operated by
the Rio Grande. I've tried to integrate as many realistic details as
possible, taking elements from different real-life locomotives.
Features:
The locomotive is fully
compatible with standard L-Gauge tracks, and fits through R40 curves
and switches.
The model is not motorised, but the tender bogies
are designed with a train motor in mind, and the tender has easily
enough room for a powered up hub.
The model includes a fully detailed cab interior, and the cab roof
is removable.
Dimensions:
The locomotive and tender
together are roughly 83 studs long. The locomotive is 16 studs wide
at the cylinders, the cab and tender are a little over 12 studs
wide.
The model includes a display base with brick-built
tracks, this base measures 96 studs long and 16 studs wide.
