What if the world hadn’t moved past steam power? What if electricity was obsolete? The world of steampunk is a fascinating concept that I have always been fascinated by. I tried to capture the aesthetic with this model, the Steampunk Submarine.
Featuring a reddish-brown hull with metallic gold accents, this model isn’t like anything you’ve see before! The submarine is a perfect desk item for home or work display. The sleek black stand brings the whole model together. The finished submarine has a periscope, 16 windows, and steam exhaust pipes on the top. The tail boasts 3 propellers and sails for rudders.
The SNOT (Studs Not On Top) techniques used to achieve the shape while retaining the correct colors and parts was difficult to say the least. Something that looks simple enough turned out to be quite tricky! I am sure any builder will enjoy the build as much as the final product.
I think this would make a great set because of its uniqueness! This is the first model of its kind and LEGO fans all over the world would love to have it. (Sure, an underwater sail and steam exhaust ports might not make complete sense, but this is fantasy!)
Model includes:
- 476 Pieces
- 47 Metallic-Gold elements
and
- Measures over 9” long and over 2 1/2” wide
Why not be the first?
