In the meantime Lego has come up with a lot of animals to build a safari scene (boy I wish I were a kid again). What is still missing? A rhino and a hippo. Follow the ranger, the filmer and the vet on their everyday journey studying and curing animals, placing transmitters and chasing poachers. Add the LEGO animals to the scene to complete it.
The set proposal consists of a landscape scene, a hippo, a rhino, a 4wheel-drive, a trailer, a cage and safari equipment (mostly cameras).
If you build more than one landscape quadrant (copy or mirror) you may connect them and form either a lake with an island in the middle or a river. Watch out for pictures in social media as I will make renders of such a river and lake using 2,3 or even 4 quadrants.
The trees I chose to build are typical African trees like:
- Sausage Tree (Kigelia Africana)
- Umbrella Thorn (Vachellia tortilis)
- Halfmensboom (Pachypodium namaquanum)
I did not want to run into license issues, so the car is just a four-wheel-drive. In the front part of the car on the chassis, I have placed a technic brick4x1 with 3 holes. You may place a winch with string and hook there (outside of the BDP4 palette). Furthermore I would use a net for the roof rack. The mod tiles on each side will hold it in place and the equipment will be secured.
The trailer carries a cage in case a sick animal needs to be brought to the infirmary of the camp. I will release instructions of an equipment platform that slides in the trailer alternatively and which shall contain a foldable cloth tent and leaves room for transporting more equipment (already built).
As to the cameras all kind of lenses are available for the photographic and the film camera: from wide angle lenses up to a super tele with lense support. A tripod may hold the photographic camera or the film camera. The feet of the tripod are foldable for easy carrying. As the LEGO film reel was not available in the palette I designed an own one. This is the only sticker in the whole set.
In general I have built almost all mocs of this set with real bricks (except the landscape as there was not enough time for that). The set would go very well with minifigs from other Lego themes like the Adventurers.
I hope you can see the potential of this set and like it.
Thx & Cheers
