For our brick cities we are often in search of a nice train station. I have here an European style train station MOC. This MOC has no interiors. This building is inspired by an actual train station, situated in Romania. I have tried to recreate the actual building as closely as I could, i used my love and knowledge of architecture and scale so more people can enjoy the hidden gems of Romania.
"Baile Herculane" Station is considered the most beautiful station in the country. It was built between 1878 and 1886 by architect AD Serres. The building, completed in Baroque style, is a copy of the hunting castle of Queen Maria Theresa near Vienna. This building was built first for Franz Joseph of Austerich (1830-1916) as a hunting lodge. The construction took 8 years from 1878 to 1886. On the exterior the dome style roof is decorated with tiles representing geometrical figures, on the inside this roof is sustained by 2 columns and there are representations of roman mythology and of Hercules.
Along the platform, the station building is flanked with Romanesque columns. The columns parallel to the railway line are covered with evergreen plants, forming a vault of greenery that gives travelers a pleasant feeling of harmony with the surrounding landscape: the wooded steepness of the nearby mountain and the sound of water at the confluence of the Cerna and Belareca rivers.
The train station in Băile Herculane is on the List of Branded Historical Monuments in Romania, and it is considered the most beautiful train station in the country.
Over time, the threshold of the Herculanean Train Station has been passed by famous personalities, among whom we remember Franz Iosif, Empress Sissi, Alexander I of Serbia and Carol I of Romania.
