Atlantis Research Base

Deep below the ocean’s surface is the world famous Atlantis Research Base, a global initiative to explore the ocean depths and expand our understanding of the wonders that lurk below.

The base is constructed from modular components, allowing it to be reconfigured to suit the needs of the expedition (or the aesthetic desires of the builder!). Need the greenhouse next to the kitchen? Done! Want the medical clinic attached to the engineering hub? No problem! Want to force everyone to walk through the bathroom to get to the submersible? The choice is yours!

Atlantis has all the facilities you’d expect in an extended-stay research base deep underwater. There are the essentials such as the research hub, engineering hub, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and medical clinic. But there are also homely touches such as the lounge and greenhouse.

When it is time to get out and explore, the team have multiple options available. They can gear up and exit through the moon pool in the engineering hub. They can equip the mech suit and use the overhead crane to be lowered into the water. Or, they can proceed through the airlock into the submersible to plunge to greater depths.

There is great beauty to be explored. Even the columns that support the base have become home to an extensive coral reef and accompanying aquatic life. The team don’t need to travel far to reach a host of fantastic research opportunities!
