The Story

Do you fancy yourself an explorer? Adventurer? Expeditionist? If so, you are cordially invited to discover the mystery…and dangers…of this ancient lost city. Are you prepared to embark on the adventure of a lifetime?

But beware! You should know that others before you have tried, but none have ever returned…

The Features

Could it be El Dorado? Z, perhaps? Maybe a washed-up piece of Atlantis? Only those with a spirit for adventure and a stomach for danger dare step forward. You’ll find out. But will you make it back to share what you’ve discovered?

Adventurers, your mission is to explore the city and unearth its mysteries. Start by exploring the region's imposing towers to see what secrets and treasures may be hiding within their walls. But not before making your way through the crumbling bridge that supports it -- if you can get past the dangers that luck inside it.

Finally, if you’re lucky enough to have made it this far, venture past the once ominous guard statues that have fallen to ruin, and into the throne room. Where, according to legend, lies the king’s tomb, and supposed home to his greatest treasure of all – the rumored water mirror.

Explore a vast, ancient civilization filled with exquisite architecture. Ruins crumbling beneath the weight of time and their own mysteries. And the haunting beauty of a once bustling metropolis that’s been untouched for millennia

My name is Thomas Lajon, I’m 28 years old, and I’m originally from the beautiful region of Normandy, France, where I grew up between the sea and the countryside. From the age of four, my passion for storytelling began to develop through LEGO bricks, which became one of my first means of creative expression. This fascination with narratives naturally led me to the field of audiovisual production.

After completing training in image techniques and screenwriting, I began my career in Paris, where I now live. My professional journey has allowed me to explore various aspects of audiovisual creation, from video capture to directing, and writing, always driven by the desire to share compelling stories.

My connection with LEGO bricks was rekindled with the opening of a LEGO Store in the heart of Paris. This return to my passion inspired me to craft new narratives through the bricks. Discovering the world of AFOLs (Adult Fans of LEGO), I participated in LEGO Ideas, where one of my projects, the Orient Express, came to life. More recently, my creation "Lost City" took shape thanks to the Bricklink Designer Program. Through each set I design, I strive to tell a new adventure, all while knowing that LEGO bricks are also an essential chapter of my own story.

How do you find inspiration for your designs? What inspired this BDP set in particular?

My inspiration comes from many sources, ranging from history and legends to nature and architecture. For this BrickLink Designer Program set, "Lost City," my main inspiration came from the myth of Atlantis. I've always been fascinated by this legend, as well as by works like "Stargate Atlantis" and the Disney animated film "Atlantis: The Lost Empire." I wanted to capture the essence of an ancient, mysterious city submerged by nature, full of ruins and secrets waiting to be discovered.

What was the first set you ever built? Which one is your favorite? What is one set youwould love to seebeing made?

The first set I ever built was a LEGO City set, a small fire station, when I was four years old. While it's difficult to choose, I would say my favorite "official" set is probably the Titanic. One set I would love to see being made is the RLS Legacy, the flying frigate from Disney's "Treasure Planet." It's a real design challenge, but I think it would be amazing to see it in a LEGO set.

How would you describe your building style? Do you usually design sets within a certain theme?

My building style is a mix of detail and visual storytelling. I like to create sets that tell a story (or describe an atmosphere) and offer details to explore. I don't have a fixed theme, but I have a particular affinity for buildings with strong architectural styles and out-of-the-ordinary vehicles (a luxury train, a single-seat airplane, a fantastic submarine... anything but cars, really). I also like to incorporate natural elements.

How would you describe your role in the LEGO fan community? Have you been to any LEGO community events or conventions? If so, what were they like?

In the LEGO fan community, I see myself as a creator sharing my passion and ideas with others. I enjoy interacting with other AFOLs (Adult Fans of LEGO) and sharing my creations on social media. I have attended a few LEGO events, and each time, it was an enriching experience. LEGO conventions are fantastic meeting places where you can exchange ideas, see incredible builds, and meet enthusiasts from all over the world.

What do you think makes a BDP set successful? What advice would you give to the next set of hopeful BDP designers?

There is no magic formula for creating a successful BDP set. The only essential thing is to work with passion and create something that speaks to people's hearts. Whether by invoking the nostalgia of a medieval set, the beauty of a chocolate factory, the uniqueness of a mushroom house, or the technicality of a bridge, each project must be a labor of love.

For me, a successful set is one that can transport builders to another world, make them dream, and stimulate their imagination. The passion you put into your creation will be felt and will touch those who see it. So, my advice to future BDP designers is always to seek inspiration in what truly excites you. By working with your heart and sharing your vision, you will touch those who share your love for LEGO bricks, and your creations will have the power to become successes.
