Presenting: The Vintage Express!
This train set is inspired by an old New York Central (NYC) electric T-motor locomotive from the 1920s, as well as Lionel and other tin plate toy trains from that era.
Overall the entire train is 3.2 feet long or approximately 1 meter!
The design includes an electric locomotive, a bag car, a club car, and an observation car. Each of the three passenger wagons has a unique interior that is meant to highlight the luxury of the train. Also included in the set is a double signal bridge, a plate girder bridge, a small station for eager passengers, and enough track for a simple loop. Each piece of this set is meant to replicate the look of vintage tin plate toy trains and their accessories from the 1920s-1930s.
There are also seven minifigures: two conductors and five special passengers (inspired by the 1920s era). The confident Nico and the agitated Kevin operate the train. Travelling alone is the wise Agatha Mary. There are also travelling father and son, Seymour and Seymour, Jr. (who is excited to be on his first train ride). Finally, we have the young couple, Daisy Fay and James.
When designing this train set, it was important for me to create something that would look amazing on display but could also be easily motorized. As such, this set is compatible with the Powered Up system. The middle set of wheels on the locomotive is designed to be replaced with a train motor, and there is enough space in the interior for a battery hub.
I hope you enjoy the design!
