Welcome to my LEGO® Mushroom House

Let me show you the Tiny World of Wonders where the Forest Elves live in a Mushroom House. Open the roof of the big mushroom to reveal the interior, filled with details on two floors. And look, the fruit merchant is coming by on her snail mount for a visit.

A tiny world of wonders

Imagine a small world in your garden right between the grass and flowers, where little elves live in harmony with nature, making a mushroom their home.

My Mushroom House is 22.5 cm tall and consists of 964 pieces. It makes a great display piece from the front and reveals an inviting interior on the backside. The 3 Minifigures included are two Forest Elves and the fruit merchant on her snail mount.

Interior

Inside are two floors. On the 1st floor is the kitchen, a fireplace with a cauldron and the living room. The 2nd floor can be reached by climbing up the leaves and houses the comfy bed and a desk to write letters.

Playful details

The build plays with scale: A mushroom finds usage as a home, and a snail becomes the mount for the fruit merchant. Plenty of details allow for lots of exploring and storytelling, such as the fruit-filled wheelbarrow and the pump to water the plants.

3 Minifigures included.

JonasKramm bio image

Hi, my name is Jonas Kramm and I’m a 28-year-old designer from Germany. Since my childhood, I have been fascinated by the bricks and this enthusiasm continues to this day.

The seed to build my own Mushroom House was planted by the LEGO® Forest Elf Minifigure in 2022. After the model had no luck on LEGO Ideas, I’m glad it got its chance at the BrickLink Designer Program thanks to the overwhelming support from the community.

I couldn’t be happier how the Mushroom House turned out and hope you will have as much fun building the set as I had designing it!

How do you find inspiration for your designs? What inspired this BDP set in particular?

Inspiration can be found all around us! For this build I looked specifically into the nature, always with an open eye for details from the real world that could fit into my Tiny World of Wonders.

What was the first set you ever built? Which one is your favorite? What is one set you would love to see being made?

There are a lot of great sets out there that I got to build over the years, but the most fun was for sure the Ninjago City Gardens. It isn't a secret that I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan, so I wouldn't mind seeing more of the iconic scenes as sets. Hobbiton in particular could turn out great, as it has short people living in unusual houses, a recipe that always works. ;)

How would you describe your building style? Do you usually design sets within a certain theme?

I don't want to limit myself to specific themes, but I do enjoy it in particular to build settings with lots of vegetation and organic shapes. I also find fantasy and history visuals very inspiring. With my building style I try to get every detail right and love storytelling.

How would you describe your role in the LEGO® fan community?

When I'm not building, I really appreciate the interaction with the community. Either online or in person at one of the many events that happen each year. It’s always a great acknowledgement, when fans take the time to explore my builds and enjoy all the details.

Have you been to any LEGO community events or conventions? If so, what were they like?

Yes, I have been to several conventions in Germany and Europe and will continue going because I get to meet so many other great builders and inspiring people from the fan community.

What do you think makes a BDP set successful?

There are a bunch of different ingredients for a successful BDP submission and not all of them lay in the hand of the fan designer. A unique idea, an eye for detail and creative part usages are a great start, but in the end, you will need the certain amount of luck to make it a finalist.

What advice would you give to the next set of hopeful BDP designers?

Make sure the build is something you stand behind and can pour your love into. In the likely case that your design isn't chosen, you still have a detailed build that you can be proud of. Even though the builds are in focus, presentation is a big part of the BDP too, so make sure you don't cut corners on that end after you have put so much work into your design.
