This small kinetic sculpture is designed to celebrate the history and wonder of flight. It features several different styles of aircraft from the early days of aviation history when engineers and pilots fearlessly pushed the limits of what was possible.

Any two of the aircraft can be mounted on the motion stand and a crank on the side can be turned to move the aircrafts from side to side. The planes tilt as they move, giving the illusion of them flying gracefully through the air.

Forced perspective – with clouds below and a microscale country landscape – is used to heighten the effect of the planes flying high in the sky.

Though these planes are smaller than minifigure scale, I have included minifigure heads for the pilots in some of the planes because I think it adds a bit of character to the model.

@EdThorpe85: I spoke with Lego and the rep told me the sets are now scheduled to ship the first week of June '22. (This is a further delay from the early-April ship date I had been given in March).

Does anyone know when these are coming? Had a pretty concerning silence for a few months. Still showing as "backorder" on my lego account, and doesn't appear at all in my bricklink account.

@stephanst223/Sghoover: The orders should be in your lego.com accounts. On Bricklink there is no further information/order entry for these BDP Sets. Why your Bricklink account doesn't show ANY orders should be a different problem.

Ok, just to update what I posted earlier: I emailed Lego.com and they told me that they do indeed see my order and that I will still be getting the set. They said when production is done and they’re ready to ship the sets out I will have my PayPal charged and they will then notify me. It still looks like it’s on par for being available mid 2022.

I did find my email from PayPal for “Lego Brand Retail Inc.” showing that I submitted for a transaction amount of $59.11, (which included tax) on July 1st. The email notes that my PayPal “Money won't leave your account until LEGO Brand Retail, Inc. processes your order.” So I know it was submitted, but why doesn’t my account here show the order or anything else?

@stephanst223 I’m having the same issue. I’m not sure what the date was, but I know for a fact I was in on the round 1 crowdfunding and my account doesn’t show anything nor any orders, which is really crazy because I have ordered parts within the past year and a half. It’s like I have nothing on my account!! What the heck happened???

I swear I remember placing a preorder for this on August 29th, but I don't see anything under my orders placed. I also can't find any email sent or charge to my credit card. Am I just out of luck for ordering this, or am I missing something?

@zaku2: No, you are too late. This wasn't really crowdfunding, just pre-ordering. If you absolutely must have the official BDP set, you will have to look for it on the aftermarket early next year. You can also source the parts yourself. If you like the original model, check out JKBrickworks' website and rebrickable page.

@Maks_Build: Seems to be a problem with the US store, I got the same error. After trying different countries (and deleting the item from the bag each time) I tried the US store again, and it was added to the bag without difficulty. Now I can't replicate the error anymore. Try that.

@DarthAmbiguous: There is in the FAQ: "We have also allocated stock for the various LEGO.com regions to ensure stock availability everywhere. The stock allocation was done according to ADP purchases." The numbers aren't public. It made sense July 1st, it doesn't now. BL might lift the local limits towards the end of the pre-order round. Keep checking the site just in case. Artificial scarcity was baked into the program from the start with the initial limit of 5000. There have been many missteps along the way. Production limitations play a part. Some people do mind waiting, just read the comments. This batch will ship June 2022, more than four years after the original Ideas project was posted. If you are interested in that version, check out JKBrickworks' website and Rebrickable page.

Is there an official explanation for why, with 7,000 units still 'available' according to the presale bar ... that it's not available in Australia because the project is 'sold out'. It hasn't been made yet. It's a pre-order. You pre-order to decide how many sets to make. How can the allocation of something that doesn't exist be exhausted? And why set a top limit anyway? Sure, LEGO are having a hard time keeping up with demand of their own line, but if the demand is there I don't think anyone would mind having products delivered in a staggered release. Congrats to the designers and for everyone working on the program - it's an absolutely brilliant idea. It's just the top level management that makes zero sense.

The idea of liveHRA does seems to make sense. For example on round 2 all seven or some of the round 1 projects could be included. Then each time the first X (now 5 but could be just first 2) sets that hit minimum threshold (now 3000 but it could be e.g. 5000) will be manufactured. TLG has been speaking a lot how it's difficult for them to produce so many *different* bricks not just to produce sets. It would greatly help TLG if this BDP would release only a few projects in a year (not 15 like they now have designed). Also this logic would allow many more castles and boats which have been the most demanded. And maybe even allow the production of the Bionicle set (after the demand for castle and boat has ended). To me it's fair that most demanded is produced first and everyone or none will get it.

@liveHRA: No, this is it. If you want to have a Pursuit of Flight set, you need to order while quantities last. This round closes on August 31st. There are local limits in place. If it sells out in Italy, you're out of luck. Round 2 and 3 are for the remaining 19 projects. Only the first 5 projects that reach 3000 pre-orders in each round will be realized.

@wettfink thanks, now it's more clear and I'm just one of the 10.000. If i've understood, there will be other rounds. So it could come another 10.000 then a 3rd round etc. Of course with no success, there will be only the first lot I guess, which is nice...

@Sadeness abarakat seems to live in Netherlands. They don't use dollars and this set does actually cost 49.99€ there which is below theirs free shipping threshold "Gratis verzending geldt voor online en telefonische bestellingen vanaf € 55". @bahrom7893 Nice link but everyone needs to change the "en-US" to own country (and language) code other vice the shipping address wont match and the order won't go trough.

About shipping charges. FAQ: "My order has a shipping charge when you advertised free shipping. How can I get that removed? Some BrickLink Designer Program orders had a shipping charge applied by mistake. We're sorry about that. After Round 1 closes for pre-orders at the end of August, LEGO Customer Service will remove these charges and email you when that is done. You don’t need to contact LEGO Customer Service about this. If you selected express shipping, that is an optional extra charge that will not be removed."
