| LEGO has created "Top-up packs" that enable users to convert one of the
Braille sets into language sets for Danish, Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian, Dutch
and Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil). The idea is that users buy the top-up packs
on Pick-A-Brick and use them to replace part of the sets.
In order to make this easy, LEGO has created Element Groups on Pick-A-Brick.
Depending on the language, these will contain 2 to 8 different parts in quantities
of 4 each as specified in the Element Groups on PAB.
The parts have already been added to the catalog (pending approval).
These Top-up packs do not have a set number, in the attached image I used the
PAB Element Group number. I am not sure how the catalog deals with such PAB-only
"sets".
Attached images from the LEGO PAB site for each group (higher quality pdf files
are available for download as "instruction manuals" at the PAB element
groups).
Can we add these 6 Top-up packs to the BrickLink catalog?
I think this will provide both commercial and historical value to the catalog,
and will provide a good service to buyers.

Can we add these 6 Top-up packs to the BrickLink catalog?

We aren't really adding "virtual" product groups (online only things
for limited times) to the catalog anymore, but we can discuss it. My first thoughts
would be "probably not".

That is why I asked first how we should proceed. I think this is a good case
to discuss.

In this case, I think the "virtual sets" have a different status than
other virtual build models. In my opinion, an exception is justified here. These
virtual sets do not represent just another model to build.
These top-up packs are part of LEGO's strategy to provide additional support
for 6 more languages. LEGO made a press release to announce and introduce them.
This is also the only reason that this selection of braille bricks (and only
this selection) has been made available on PAB. Without the addition of these
Top-up packs, it is possible that most of the parts that have become available
op PAB, and are being added to our catalog, will never be linked to a set. They
would remain orphans in our catalog, without clarity about in which language(s)
they were supposed to be used.
As for the availability for a limited time, I expect these to remain available
as long as the braille bricks are in production, or until a language specific
set is introduced to replace the top-up pack. When these packs eventually become
unavailable (as all products must one day), having the catalog entries will support
continued use on the secondary market, so more people can keep using (and selling
/ buying) these bricks. I think that providing the information will increase
demand.

Thanks for the information and your opinion on the matter. As said before, we
will discuss it.
Since they are available through PaB, I would place them in the current PaB "sets"
that we have for PaB exclusive parts if they wouldn't be linked to anything
else in the catalog.
Cheers,
Randy

| Interesting, there are four different variations for division signs. |

Yes, Braille is complicated... Apparently, international standardisation did
not happen before national systems expanded the basic set of characters.
