| Hi all,
Two questions stemming from an error in Studio concerning these parts:
1. Are px2 and px21 using the same “Peach” colour? px2 seems more Yellow / Bright
Light Orange than Nougat.
2. Shouldn’t “Maroon” be “Dark Red” and “Peach” be “Nougat” (as used by LDraw)?
(IOW, shouldn’t descriptions use “real” colours?)

These are tricky — Dark Red wasn't introduced to the palette until much later,
so I doubt that TLG would consider it the same color. I think in some cases it
might actually be just red over black — see the first attached picture, where
the maroon looks like just red where it overlaps the peach. In the second photo,
you can see a sliver of red on the bottom right edge, which implies that the
two black checkers were overprinted with a full red shield. But I've yet
to see a misalignment that actually reveals the black layer itself.
After looking at set pictures on google/brickshelf, I think all the peach printing
on those shields (and all the torsos that feature that shield design) are likely
the same Nougat, it just varies a bit based on the part color showing through.
(I REALLY wish I could find more info on old ink colors!)

Considering that they are alternates within the same sets, it is probably a reversed
colour pattern variation (intentional or unintentional?).

I thought maybe Dark Red existed at that time for Modulex or Ink.
But, anyway, the problem (2) is that “Maroon” is not a BL colour and people seeing
this part would perhaps more often search for Dark Red or even Brown.
“Peach” is also not an official colour but it’s used more often (mainly “Peach
Lips,” which sounds better than “Nougat Lips” ).

Question (1) arised because Studio is wrongly using the 3D model for px3 as px21
(LDraw doesn’t have px21, only px2 and px3) and the member/user who reported
the problem was confused by the difference of colour in the pics and thought
px2 was wrong too.
Obviously, as you say, as Woutr noted, and the descriptions imply (“Style 1/2”),
they are variations of the same part… but we never know, maybe someone has both
parts and can take pics in the same conditions

I’m disappointed by your lack of knowledge!
