Does anyone own any early copies of sets from the Kingdoms subtheme? I’m putting
some of mine back together and I can’t tell whether most of my helmets and swords
are new or old PDG. Does anyone have any helpful comparison photos? I’ve only
been able to confirm some horse armor pieces, but this color displays a ton of
variation, so they don’t match other parts very well.

Is the left spear the older color? It’s slightly greener.

The left spear looks like the old color to me.

The only part I know I have in both color is 3848. Old PDG seems generally slightly
greener/brownish, but of course inconsistent. New PDG in my experience is a very
consistent, neutral grey. In this piece in particular, I find the older one to
have a more grainy texture, but I'm not sure that's something consistent
to go on. It's hard to get good lighting to show the difference though :c

I’m not so sure that the left one is the older color. I have the same issue with
five of these halberd pieces. I have a sixth that is significantly darker than
the rest, but the other five are all from sets with 316. Those five parts are
a perfect match for a spear from 2013, so I believe the darker halberd is just
an example of a part that received an insane amount of colorant. I just ordered
a halberd that was listed in July of 2010, so maybe that one turns out to be
a better match for the left spear in the original photo.

The listing might be from 2010, but seller could have not sold out and parting
out sets at a later date that combined with their old inventory.

I did consider that. Testing my luck is the fun part.

Looks like old Pearl Dark Gray halberds do not have the part number or LEGO logo
molded ANYWHERE.

The difference between old and new Pearl Dark Gray is as wide as the difference
between common Pearl Light Gray and Flat Silver. This color definitely deserves
to be added here.

If new/old dark red isn't differentiated, there's no reason to do so
for this.

They are two completely different colors.

There was some discussion of this color here:
