| I've now 3 times experienced that a possible buyer sends me a quote request
that gets automatically canceled immediately. The buyer doesn't do it (and
one time the buyer actually wrote me to ask why it was canceled), and the items
aren't sold out.
They do include reserved items, but the items are reserved for the person sending
the quote request. Could that be why? Otherwise, I can't see why these requests
get canceled the second the buyer sends them.

If the items are reserved, then the quote will get cancelled. Even if it's
the same buyer.
You have to take the items out of reserve for the quote to not get cancelled.
I don't know why it happens this way, maybe someone else can give an explanation.

Seems a tricky logic on the BL side, have you reported the bug to the Help Desk?
https://helpdesk.bricklink.com/Main/
PD: Careful when sending quotes as the cancel quote button is just besides the
send quote button.

I agree! It doesn't make much sense that you have a customer asking about
specific bricks,so you mark them as reserved to secure them not being sold to
others while the customer considers or maybe looks for other items in the shop.
And then when they are ready to place a quote to find out the shipping costs,
it's not possible. We'll, yes it IS kind of possible, but gets canceled
right away. Which makes no sense at all.
I'll definitely report this as a bug.

Yes/no.
I think you're losing your time here.
1) Do NOT reserve anything to anyone
2) Set up Auto Checkout and Instant Payment. This way, if someone wants the price,
he knows, and can buy. If not, he doesn't buy.
This whole logic of manual invoicing, quote etc is really out of date, and more
or less legal nowadays especially in Europe.
Please rethink the whole problem - IMHO?

What do you mean "more or less legal"? I've never heard of any issues about
manual invoicing. Besides ... I offer various shipping methods at different prices,
but they can't always be calculated automatically, because the options depend
on destination, weight, shape/size and if the customer wants or I require tracking.
Auto checkout and instant payment is bound to go wrong or either cost me more
money than the customer pays or result in lack of insurance on packages disappearing.

Because in 2020+ buying online should show a total price including shipping and
all fees, and if the buyer fully agrees and pay it, both parts of the transaction
are happy.
A quote? What happens if the buyer doesn't like the price? Will you cancel
or NPB? Will you give Negative feedback? Will you reply 2 days later? Will you
discuss with him/her 10 e-mails? What if you send an invoice 15 days later? Should
the buyer still be interested in this deal? Will you ban the buyer, give Negative
feedback, report?
That's the legal POV I'm trying to give you: on line sales doesn't
work like this in Europe at least anymore.
I don't talk about YOU, but in a general meaning.
Again, forget quotes and bugs on quotes.
Think about auto checkout and instant payment.
You *can* make the system works, you *may* loose ten Euros per year (or not)
but who cares.
If you're a shop, think as a shop, wider.
Or sell the remaining of your inventory without complaining here - or on eBay.
Sorry to be direct, and really wishing you the best, and trying to help you!
