I submitted this request to add as many evidence of used sets as I have access
to.
The 4 black slopes are not visible through the plastic window of a sealed copy.
This makes it impossible to find a reliable set, i.e. sealed set, to add these
to the inventory of this set.
It is though likely the turntables 3404ac01 are visible in a sealed copy.
I expect these requests to be rejected. This is the same scenario as the yellow
cones
in
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1065172
that were seen in many and many used sets, three of them in each, but were assumed
not reliable because the admin(s) at the time wanted to be 100% sure, which had
resulted in an incomplete/less-reliable inventory.
Based on the current inventory, BL database suggests that TLG produced in 1976
a new inverted slope, AND at the same time produced two variants of them right
from the start of production!
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=3660&in=S&itemYear=1976&ov=Y
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=3660old&in=S&itemYear=1976&ov=Y
I add over time photos of used copies that come with these two variants and obviously,
they are expected to come in the productions of 183-1 from 1976 (and not 1977).
So, the mint copy I personally bought from Australia don't come with them
because it is a production of 1977

These are photos of a reliable used copy bought from the Netherlands by one of
my buyers in Europe. He generously checked all parts I requested him.
He cares a lot to get parts that are original to the set and he confirmed parts
are Pat Pend or Pat Pend scratch.
Based on the parts present in his copy, see below, they look to be original and
as I expected.
His set comes with
The black turntable is the 3404ac01 pat.pend. obscure.
The production date of motor is 09.02.76 so February 9th in 1976
The red brick 1 x 6 is clearly embossed.
The white windows 1x2x1 have glass.
The yellow windows 1x1x2 have glass.
The connectors are gray:
The cord is black app. 42/44 studs.

I can confirm all of that. My set is unused. The year of production of the engine
is 04/01/76 (April 1, 1976).
I bought the set from another collector about 20 years ago. The peculiar thing
about the set are the gray rails, which are also new and unused. I still have
no idea how the gray rails got in here.
The set also has the unused decals and assembly instructions, which are not shown
in the pictures.

Unfortunately I can't see which inverted slope variant your images are showing.
and your turntable is variant
I removed the older turntable from the inventory, hoping someone would come with
a new early set showing which variant came with it. And you just did that. Thanks!!
I can't place the light gray rails either though.
I also wonder about the cardboard inlay. Only saw it in yellow so far. This week
this is the second one I see with white cardboard. Are these homemade?
If the slopes indeed are 3660old versions, would you please add another image?
You can leave them on the loco and just make an image of the bottom.

This set of Thomas might be called used to Bricklink standards, but like Thomas
said, the parts are not used, which does count for something, like the unused
set I have. Unfortunately the contents is tempered with though. Taking this
into account, together with observations / facts below
I have been studying images of this set ever since I started handling change
requests for it this past year. Many sets indeed do have the old inverted slope
and the first set I have hidden somewhere probably also have them. Given the
year of release I will put these back into the inventory. It is based on opened
sets though. We will never be able to get proof for these slopes from a sealed
set, because the bottom of these slopes are hidden.
was introduced in 1976 (year of release of this set).
Before that and after 3404ac01, came
which is still an unknown part.
I am pretty convinced that this set did come with this variant and not also with
3404ac01. Although it's also hard to find proof for this part, I would like
to see it before adding variant 3404ac01. Imo 3404ac01 was only in this inventory
once, because 3404ac02 wasn't discovered yet.

Following some discussions here

|
|
Thank you for these images. Really appreciated.
This request is about adding
and
Unfortunately I can't see which inverted slope variant your images are showing.
and your turntable is variant
I removed the older turntable from the inventory, hoping someone would come with
a new early set showing which variant came with it. And you just did that. Thanks!!
I can't place the light gray rails either though.
I also wonder about the cardboard inlay. Only saw it in yellow so far. This week
this is the second one I see with white cardboard. Are these homemade?
If the slopes indeed are 3660old versions, would you please add another image?
You can leave them on the loco and just make an image of the bottom.

Here in Germany, the white cardboard seems to be quite normal and is also original.
The yellow one was also new to me, I had never seen it before.
Wasn't this sold in the UK? Maybe they changed the color of later sets in
other countries?

- your set comes with gray connectors
but I know early copies come with blue connectors. One used copy on Ebay had
motor dated 03.12.75
and I got another spare lot of train parts including the stickered black battery
box of 183, blue connectors and black motor dated
26.03.76
https://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=267050
I don't expect the production date of motors to be sequential. TLG could
mix some from 3-4 months together and used them in a dis-ordered manner. We don't
know what exactly happened.

This is the first ever copy of 183 I find coming with this turntables.
In your copy, there are a couple of incorrect parts. I am not comfortable to
see turntable 3404ac02 being added based on just one single used copy. If it
is original to this set, we will find in future another used copy with a motor
produced about the same time.
legorossi confirmed to me, in a private message, that
- the length of wire is 34-35 cm for me, 42-44 studs.
- the two 1x2x1 white windows 27c01 have glass.
- the four 1x1x2 yellow windows 29c01 have glass.
In the box, I see one extra blue
We see you took photos of two black
There should be 4 of them under the front car.
Are there 4 of them or 6 of them in your copy?
