| Just got myself a Star Wars Cloud City Boba, but he's got a cracked left
arm. I previously posted asking for ideas on how to repair it and was met with
multiple suggestions. However, seeing the value of this figure and the fact I've
never experimented with this type of thing before, should I just leave it alone?
As my dad once told me about his coin collection- "Don't do anything to them
in an attempt to increase the value. It will only DECREASE the value." Is this
true with minifigs? I would obviously never try to pass off a repaired arm Boba
as a mint one, but should I just leave the guy alone or continue to pursue legit
ideas to repair a cracked arm? Are the even any benefits to having one with a
"repaired" arm as opposed to one with a "hairline crack?" Thanks!

Why not just buy an arm from a seller and replace?

This particular arm doesn't come up for sale often (if ever) and if it did,
it would be very expensive.

| Also with a $1000 figure, i would not risk replacing the arm especially if it’s
just a hairline crack. I’ve had too many torsos explode from a simple arm swap.

| I think your Dad's advice is good! I would just leave Boba alone.

| I said this in your other post as well, but I’ll repeat here. You’d likely get
75% or so of the value if its a hairline crack. If you attempt to repair it
with glue or sealer, you’ll likely get 10%. There is almost 0 reason to ever
try to repair an expensive figure unless you’re trying to deceive a buyer. Buyers
will always pay less for a repaired fig than for the same fig in its damaged
state.

| "To touch or not to touch?" Go ahead. Not too much though, you'll go blind.
|
As my dad once told me about his coin collection- "Don't do anything to them in an attempt to increase the value. It will only DECREASE the value." Is this true with minifigs?

But seriously, your father's numismatic advise is solid. The flaw is known
and not distinct within the AFOL-SW universe.
The minifigure is an extreme example, don't mess with it. List it with a
detailed description and a pic file on the ready for prospective buyer's
request.

Agree, don't try to repair the cracked arm, and don't wait for an arm
to come up for sale without a crack - rarely happens and if so, will be expensive.
I similarly did sell our Cloud City Boba Fett some years ago, and he too had
a cracked left arm. I took probably about 5 or 6 pictures, and included the
pictures in the listing (HTML) so that the buyer could see how it impacted the
overall look of the figure. I sold it with the Cloud City set, and priced it
accordingly at the time, knowing that Boba Fett was one of the main attractions
to the set. I had no trouble selling it immediately.

| Legofan1138 here,
I find that older figures crack less easily then newer figures. It really depends
on whether you think it’s worth it or not. Anyway, that’s just my opinion. Feel
free to do whatever you think works best for you.

Coins are different to minifigures in that they are a single piece, whereas minifigures
have multiple parts. So it depends on what "anything" is. If you find a better
head or arm, for example, I'd replace it as that would add value. Whereas
I wouldn't glue or try to do a manual repair on anything valuable that I
was planning to sell. But if I was going to use it and the hand kept dropping
out of the arm, for example, then I'd repair it.

Just list with the flaws documented. I've had multiple torsos from the same
year break when trying to remove the arms for replacement. As other's have
said attempted repairs simply cheapen the minifig and devalue it.
Good luck and what a great find.
