First of all:

I really appreciate the system change that buyers are able to add a shipping
address different from their registered address during checkout for a while now.

I would prefer to go a little further, similar to a common eBay option:

I want to ba able to SAVE the shipping address entered during checkout and to
be able to select it for the next order as well - instead of entering it manually
every single time.

This comes very handy especially when buying with the cell phone shortly after
getting a wanted item notification - it's a pain adding a complete address
on a smartphone screen.

Best would be to have a register tab for saved shipping addresses where you could
add and/or remove all addresses you needed or plan to use again.

Thanks!

(I'm a little bit surprised that no one supported (with a post, not a vote)
this suggestion, as the resulting benefit for buyers, at least those with varying
shipping destinations, seems to be obvious)

You can have multiple shipping addresses through PayPal. Choose it there and
let the seller know to use the PayPal address.

Thanks for this comment.

Of course I need to have the desired shipping address(es) in my PayPal account
as well, but in some cases, sellers have been uncomfortable with getting
the updated shipping address with the payment only, possibly having issued a
shipping label already.

The main issues are shipping addresses in other countries (yes, those are not
yet implemented here, I'm aware of that) that result in different
shipping charges - these need to be given to the seller as as early as possible
- definitely before manual invoicing to avoid double effort for the seller.

Buying at eBay, I do this by either changing my preferred shipping address BEFORE
the purchase is being made (sometimes necessary to be able to place a bid!) -
or during checkout, of course (even if I do not pay with PayPal, just to let
the seller know the correct shipping address).

Either way, having to type (or copy) texts during the order process is a pain
when buying from a mobile device, so the future will definitely by a selection
of pre-saved data sets to chose from with a pulldown menu or a radio button.
