| Hi everybody,
Would it be possible to keep Bricklink 2.0 compatible or able to work with the
program Brickstore. I find it very useful to be able to download my orders. Sice
they get purged after 6 month, it is the only way to keep them forever.
Thank you for reading.
Best regards,
Olivier

I'll give it a yes too.
I'm not a seller, but I use Brickstore to keep inventory of my Lego parts.
Being able to import orders into my inventory list makes things very easy. and
if I'm building or preparing a new MOC I can quickly check if I have certain
parts that I need.

I think most would say "it's up to brickstore to be compatible with bricklink,
not the reverse"
You can't design your system around someone else's interface so your
users can continue to use a 3rd party system.

| In a way I kind of agree with you, but I know Brickstore is not going to be updated
and is so useful to so many that I just ask for someone from BL2.0 to try to
keep the two compatible.
Keep the "output" of Bricklink still available as an "Input" for Brickstore.
Specially if it is "easy" rather than:
1) Ignoring the existence of Brickstore
or
2) Being unaware of Brickstore.
Thank you for reading.

Olivier

I have to say No. Brickstore was constructed to work with BL, but that doesn't
obligate BL to forever remain compatible. As another poster has already said,
if changes and improvements to BL have an impact on Brickstore, it's Brickstore
that should adapt. And since (AFAIK) there is no longer any active development
or maintenance being done there, I think that's unlikely. I would really
hate to think that any feature or capability of BL2.0 is being left out or even
delayed simply to retain compatibility with other systems. Ideally, it'd
be great to see the best features of Brickstore incorporated into BL2.0 instead.

Exactly.
There should be no need for an external programme.
Those features should be added to the list of BL 2.0 suggestions/requests.

I suggest the dozens of programmers who have volunteered their expertise on the
development of BL 2.0 and have been shunned redirect their efforts on updating
BrickStore if needed.

Voted no for reasons that others stated. Brickstore is not supported anymore,
why would you want to ensure compatibility with it?
It would be better if BL2.0 included some API so that even better 3rd party software
could be created.

I am an avid user of Brickstore as well, but would rather this suggestion be
about requesting similar functionality in BL 2.0.
The functionality I would suggest that BL 2.0 have is to allow one to access
all orders (existing - if already downloaded in XML or other format? - and future),
allowing maintenance of a complete inventory of bricks. I currently have both
separate XML files for each order and a combined one with all my orders. My personal
preference is to allow one to save this locally, perhaps in the cloud (on the
network?) as well.
