| I propose that the Forum rules that outlaw discussion of Religion or Politics
should be lifted in times of
"Extreme discourse".
We could have a pre-set background colour change as the discourse becomes more
extreme.
The Green background could turn to Yellow if discussions are ongoing about items
for sale --
Chrome bricks, custom parts etc.
The background would then turn to RED if discussions are ongoing about individuals
and ethics/morality.
When the Yellow background is up - members would be encouraged to post OFF TOPIC
items, jokes, links to cute videos etc.
When the RED background is up - free for all -- anything to change the subject
-- Dirty Jokes, links to "other" videos, Religion and Politics discussion --
EVEN posts to e-bay LINKS selling LEGO instead of just posting all the info necessary
to see it without a simple one click solution !!!!

How about limiting the length of a post? If it goes over 100 works change the
back ground color to black and the printing is in black, so perfect idea.

| I politely include my opinion as not favoring this idea. If only to add a suggestion
to prevent being hollered at, as not having suggested anything better, I would
suggest seeking forums or chats that pertain to these sensitive topics you wish
to discuss, and discuss them with people who are also interested in discussing
them.

| even though I am a strong defender of free speech in general and "fought" for
that right here in the Forum as well, I have never seen any good come out of
such discussions.
I think the decission to ban certain objects has merit and has improved the Forum
over time
after all, this is a Lego website and if people want to discuss non-Lego related
items, there's blogs and Forums in excess all around to do that on
so "no" from me

Not just no....
I belong to enough groups that have areas like that and/or allow posts like that.
I come to LEGO sites to get AWAY from some of that, especially in the
midst of election season.
I find there's enough to argue about just in brick-related issues, anyway.
Play Well,

This is an absolutely horrible idea, because by allowing banned subjects, you
completely remove any negative consequences to posting dirty limericks and links
to Rick Astley videos. I am flabbergasted and utterly horrified and deeply disturbed
and mildly irritated and completely discombobulated that such an idea would even
be thought up, let alone posted.
Tomorrow, though, I am going to suggest that unregistered members be allowed
to talk about politics and religion in the Forum, because I think this is the
main reason so few people shop here.
