| Hi Bricklink gurus
Please consider staging BDP pre-order times by country timezones. It's fine
if you're close to the US, but for anyone on the opposite side of the world,
getting up at 0400hrs is crazy (I mean, I did it, but missed out on the BPD series
4 castle, the only one I wanted).
Also, 30,000 unit limit? What the heck? If you get past the minimum order required,
surely it should be open ended after that.
Regards, Disappointed Aussie.

The 30,000 set limit is because LEGO doesn’t want to mass produce a set that
most people won’t buy. So with a unit limit they are sure to sell them all. Good
marketing strategy in my opinion.

Then there’d need to be quantity limits by timezone too. Otherwise the first
risen will still be the ones making all the orders, and you’ll come back to say
“eh, why wasn’t it open at the same time for me too? I woke up at 4AM and couldn’t
place my order before 12PM and they were all gone!”
And then it’ll be “why is there only XX sets available for AU while the US has
XXX?”
TL;DR: it’s unfair but it’s the fairest. (Cue Churchill’s quote….)

It recently changed to 30,000. It was to be 20,000. (And it was 10,000 in the
invitational, thanks to a glitch that double the initial 5,000.)

That’s not how sets production works. LEGO needs to assign time & production
slots for the sets in its factories and time for preparing parts before that,
alongside their ‘own’ sets they produce in the hundred thousands each (or more).

Strange, I got the castle 30 min after the sales opened, and there was still
50% left?
Sorry you missed out
