So, first impressions of the new place, Aurora Point. We’re one week in.

First of all, whoever thought glass was the perfect choice for a building material in a polar observatory was a genius. I mean, not that I don’t like the view from my workstation. It’s pretty, with the Northern lights and all.

But seriously. I get that it was more like an art project for whoever designed this place. But not everything is just fun and games.

It’s the universe we’re studying here.

The universe is not a playground.

And we are not LEGO minifigures for some invisible hand to play with.

Right?

***

The set has:

  • Five minifigures, including four observatory staff and one wild polar explorer
  • Main telescope that can be pulled out or hidden away using a hinge mechanism
  • Rotating telescope platform, accesible for the minifigs
  • "Aurora Point" observatory entrance sign
  • Secondary telescope (removable)
  • Main observatory building with research lab, computer desk, little green hand sample, and more
  • Kitchenette with water cooler and coffee machine
  • Garage with mechanical tools and ski gear
  • Dog sleigh
  • Two snowmobiles
  • Two snowmen
  • Small fusion reactor.

Your feedback helps the designers better understand what to do with their lives.

I'd love to hear what you think, good or bad.

Thank you all so much! @FireFox31 really appreciate your thoughtful and encouraging feedback, and your suggestions in particular. I'm not entirely happy with the power core myself. It's 27 pieces total, which probably isn't much, but it bothers me a little that it's mostly just a decorative piece of interior. It's an interesting thought about competing with myself. My entries mostly targeted different audiences and different part count ranges, although there's certainly a lot of overlap between some of them. There's a lot I wish I could figure out about how people vote in general, and it's often difficult for me to assess my own stuff. You've given me a lot to think about. Thank you once again.

If I had a winter setup in my Lego City, I would absolutely buy this! Even without one, I still want something like this in my collection!

THIS is what we need more of. Great design, visually interesting, loaded with details. It's a relief to see this instead of so many boring Castle sets. Could you reduced the parts count, perhaps by shrinking the Power Core (which seems more decorative than playable) to lower the price? I have the Mountain View Observatory, but I'd buy this instantly. Also, all of your submissions are great, way more interesting than anything else submitted. But by submitting so many, you're competing with yourself. Next time, submit only one or two to concentrate votes on yourself. Save others for future series. I think you can only submit each twice, so don't waste them all at once. Your models are more interesting than even the veteran builders who have had theirs produced, so gather everyone to vote for one model at a time. You can win!

With so many submissions being "forest" and "medieval" themed, it's refreshing to see something modern and futuristic. I'm not sure if this is a buy for me, but I do like it.

Thank you so much for your support, you people. I'd like you to know your comment, as well as your vote, really matters. A lot. I mean, at least to me. @stocco From a Scandinavian LEGO fan, your sheer excitement made me especially happy :D (Sorry, I had to.)

Great contribution to the program, but I'm afraid it's too specific to be successful. Good luck!

There are many space fans. I hope Lego realizes that this great set is the perfect alternative to the many medieval sets. Also in an affordable 2343 parts price segment. Vote for Love It! Good look!

I love the futuristic vibe of the set. It gives a bit of the City Space feel, and the use of those white triangle panels adds the finishing touch to what might have been a bit too smoothl part of the build.

I originally was just going to mark it as “Not for me”…until I really looked at it and went through all the photos. This set is truly a great set and even though it is not a “Winter Village” set, I definitely would add it to mine! Love it and wishing you good luck 🍀!!
