Hi All,
Need some advise on inventory management.
Do you ever recount all items in your store, go from lot to lot to check if everything
is correct.
Or do you take for granted that you sometimes miss something for an order?

Any advise is more then welcome.

I'd say for 12000 lots it's almost impossible.

It'll take you 1 or 3 months, and while this some of the first ones you checked
could already have errors due to picking miscount, or putting back a bag in the
incorrect place

When picking you may simply check if the lot exists at the given place, and if
the quantity seems to correspond. If you've a doubt, then recount this one.

One thing is sure, use BrickStore to keep timestamped copies of your inventory,
and preferably save all changes (uploads...) so you can check the past and understand
if you find any discrepency.

If I make one or more sales then I definitely check that the remaining quantity
(as shown on the order detail page) is correct.

Thanks, I couldn't see the remaining quantity. Checkbox wasn't marked.
Now I can check during orders.

Keep in mind that if you get multiple orders the quantity remaining on the order
detail page will always take all the orders into account.

I barely ever count or check inventory but at the same time you do not want to
put yourself in a position where you cannot fulfill an order as that is outside
Bricklinks own policy of selling what you don't have to hand. The solution
would be to only to sell a portion of your stock at a time so that you have backup
stock to fall back on so if you have 100 parts maybe only list 70 and then list
some more as your store inventory stock gets low or shows 0 left. I only start
counting once I'm down to my last 10 or so, whereupon you can list all your
remaining inventory accurately with little time taken up needing to constantly
count/stock check all the time

If I would have the space that could be an option, but my space I very limited.

you dont need any more space it's just a case of storing your parts together
but only listing some of it rather than all of it in one go.

No, I’ve never realistically considered rechecking my inventory nor do I have
any plans to. If you have a small inventory it might be feasible then but rechecking
inventory dosnt guarantee a fix as with all that counting you could miscount
any of the problems, etc. I do have the remaining qty turned on so I do double
check qty when I sell something and the qty is low which has saved me a few times
from future issues but a full inventory recount isn’t really feasible

For common/numerous parts I always list a few less than what I physically count.
Help provides a buffer.
